Creation Weekend 2023
Creation with Confidence and Grace
Featuring Dr. Gordon Wilson
Friday, October 27 – Saturday, October 28
Location: Meadowlands Baptist Church
(2215 17 Street NW, Edmonton, Alberta)
Friday 8:00 p.m. Session – Young Earth Creation with Confidence and Grace
This presentation teaches our youth and young adults to be confident and bold, but also gracious about young earth creation. We are happy to be young earth creationists in our Christian/creationist bubble, but do we zip inside our turtle shell when we are around others who are likely to ridicule us? On the other extreme, some creationists are bold but also obnoxious and argumentative with atheistic or theistic evolutionists or old earth creationists. Neither extreme will do. We must be confident in what we believe, but also gracious, and, patient, and quick to listen while we present our reasons for the faith that is in us.
Saturday 10:00 a.m. Session – Who was our Ancestor: Australopithecus or Adam?
This presentation includes a review of the supposed evidence for evolution of Homo sapiens (man) from Australopithecus and other forms. Anchored in the Genesis narrative, Dr. Wilson emphasizes the importance of critical thinking when considering what the evolution narrative promotes compared to that is the actual evidence.
Saturday 11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. CSAA Annual General Meeting
Saturday 1:15 p.m. Session – Alphabet Soup: Can biological building blocks become a living cell by
chance? This presentation begins by considering the impossibility of abiogenesis (life from non-
life). Dr. Wilson reflects on the uber-complexity of even the simplest cells and considers the mind-boggling statistics of Dr. Douglas Axe’s work on functional proteins (ones that work) being made from random reactions in a hypothetical primordial soup/ imaginary primitive mixture of chemicals.
Saturday 2:30 p.m. Conference Round-up: Where to Now?
Saturday 3:00 p.m. Meet and Greet (resources available for sale at table in the foyer)
