Topoisomerase
These enzymes participate in the processes of copying RNA or replicating DNA. Ahead of the replication fork, if left alone, the DNA becomes ever more tightly tangled so that the polymerase cannot proceed along the strand. This enzyme surrounds the DNA, cuts the phosphate backbone of one strand and reseals it after having unwound the strand! This is another example of the immense complexity of cell processes.
